Terms of Service.

PennyOCR is an API and web application that extracts text and markdown from documents you submit (the "Service"). By creating an account or calling the API you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

Accounts are created with an email address. You are responsible for keeping your API keys secret and for all usage under them — treat a key like money, because it spends your credits. Revoke compromised keys immediately from the dashboard. One person or company per account; you must be at least 18.

Usage is billed per page at the price published at pennyocr.com/ocr-api-pricing and /pricing.txt. Each account gets a monthly free allowance; beyond it, usage draws down prepaid credits purchased through Stripe. Credits never expire.

Unused credits are refundable on request within 30 days of purchase — email hello@pennyocr.com. Consumed credits are not refundable, except where a Service defect caused the consumption (we'll re-credit those pages). We may change prices with notice; already-purchased credits keep their page value.

Don't use the Service to process content that is illegal for you to possess or process, that infringes others' rights, or that you lack the legal basis to submit (you are responsible for having the right to OCR what you send). Don't attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or resell the Service as your own without our written OK, and don't evade the free tier with mass accounts. We may throttle, suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

You keep all rights to documents you submit and to the text we return. By default we process documents transiently and do not store them or their results after the response is delivered (see the Privacy Policy). If you enable result storage, or use the dashboard playground, we store those runs for you until you delete them. We do not use your documents to train models.

The Service is young and provided without an uptime SLA; we publish status openly and fix things fast, but interruptions can happen. Support is by email (hello@pennyocr.com) — a human replies fast.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. OCR output is machine-generated and can contain errors — verify before relying on it for anything consequential (medical, legal, financial or safety decisions included).

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR LOST PROFITS OR DATA.

You can stop using the Service anytime; email us to delete your account (unused credits are handled per section 03). We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these terms, with refund of unused credits unless the breach was fraud or abuse.

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email or on this page with a new effective date, and continued use means acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Tatsmany LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
